Jasmine's story

Assalamu alaikum, and welcome. My name is Jasmine Ali, and I'm so happy you have found this resource to help you understand your health better.

My journey

For a long time, I followed what consultants and other health professionals recommended for my autoimmune condition. That was fine, but then I realised life was on hold. I had limited ability to do many daily tasks, and little room for ambition. I was incredibly grateful for the conventional, allopathic care available to me, but something was missing.

My children were young and at the most active point in their lives, and I wanted more than just to survive. I studied for a BSc (Hons) in Biology at university, and I couldn't quite understand how the body could become so fatigued so easily. Knowing that so many amazing systems in the body were doing so much, at so many different levels, would sometimes blow my mind.

The first pivotal point came when a qualified hijama therapist gave me cupping. I reflected on how helpful this, and other holistic therapies, had been for me. I then changed my lifestyle, taking small steps at the beginning. This led to less brain fog and more energy. Having a spiritual connection was also a great support: it helped me structure my life better, knowing Allah (swt) was right there beside me.

Seeing people in the community struggle with poor health made me question why it was so common to see people's health conditions deteriorate. What was missing that stopped us from improving our health? I went on to complete an MA in Design for Health and Wellbeing, with a research project asking what support is needed after the diagnosis of a chronic health condition. Helping people manage chronic conditions is now at the heart of my work, and I trained as a Health and Nutrition Coach with the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London. I have also completed other holistic courses in energy and emotional healing, trauma-informed practice, managing pain better, and building new skills with neuroplasticity.

What I believe
Once you understand the techniques that can help, alongside simplified biology, you have a better idea of how to manage your health. This is what I deliver, and my small-scale research showed this too.

How I work

I start with your nervous system, because a body that feels safe is better able to rest, digest and recover. From there we look at food, sleep, movement and daily routines, one small step at a time, and at the role your faith can play in steadying you.

I explain the biology in plain language, so you understand why each change might help. I work alongside your GP and any medical care you receive, never in place of it.
